In the calm water of the Maquarie River at Ollie Robbins Oval, it is easy for small confident children to enjoy kayaking under the supervision of their parents.
Age is really no limit.
Above is a a man in his 90’s taking out his 5 year old great granddaughter for a paddle on the Macquarie River here in Dubbo.

SUP’s are a great alternative to kayaking. They really are no harder to use than a kayak and you don’t have to have great balance.
Paddleboards are very stable.
Not what they were originally designed for, but hey, if it works…
SUP’s are safe enough to take your children on.
